77ft GOETZ 1996/2013

Oxnard, CA

Bidding Closed | Sold

Aandeel is a meticulously crafted fast cruising sloop with a rich history and exceptional performance. She was purchased by the current owner in 2011 and was thoroughly redesigned and underwent a $3m rebuild over two years at Westerly Marine in southern California, renowned for its expertise in high-performance racing and cruising boats. Originally designed in 1996 by Sparkman & Stephens Design (S&S) and built by Goetz Boats of Rhode Island (formerly Derecktor-Goetz Yachts), Aandeel underwent a remarkable transformation, converting from a racer to a luxurious offshore yacht easily reaching 16 knots in moderate wind.

The design brief prioritized automated sail handling systems for solo navigation, while also incorporating refined and lavish spaces for entertaining and relaxation with friends and family. The result is a fast, comfortable, and easy-to-sail cruiser. Changes including the conversion of the sail plan to roller furling main and headsail, self-tacking jib, power winches, modification of the aft hull with the addition of a watertight bulkhead aft of the rudder post, creation of a tender garage with hydraulic transom door and platform, larger propulsion package with new Yanmar diesel (550 hours), new Kubota donkey engine (60 hours), redesigned water ballast system with port and starboard tanks each holding 10,500 pounds of seawater, totally new electrical/electronic systems with output capacity quadrupled with lithium-ion batteries, a retractable anchor system, and a retracting bow thruster. Below the waterline, Aandeel has a sharp entry transforming to a shallow rounded bottom with a deep bulb keel and high aspect deep rudder.

Aandeel boasts an impressive and spacious cockpit, comfortably seating 16 individuals, equipped with a removable awning system making it ideal for hosting memorable days on the water with friends and family. The yacht’s condition is exemplary, showcasing high-tech sailing technology and the total ease of shorthanded sailing—an experience that must be inspected to be fully appreciated.

Her silver/gray hull is constructed with pre-impregnated carbon fiber skins over balsa core with framing and bulkheads constructed using carbon skins over Hexcel or Nomex core. The full teak decks enhance beauty and experience, while the twin helm stations, equipped with 14″ electronic displays and hydraulic sail functions, oversees the working area in the aft cockpit, housing all sailing, maneuvering, and hydraulic functions.

Aandeel’s interior underwent a complete overhaul, featuring carbon-cored panels for a lightweight design and the addition of reverse cycle air conditioning. The yacht’s layout includes water-tight compartments, redesigned three-cabin layout, a new “U” shaped galley, and a salon with large settees and a proper navigation station.

This extraordinary yacht’s inspection reveals not only its structural excellence, with changes overseen by naval architect Mr. Roger Brown, but also its commitment to advanced composite construction. Aandeel stands as a testament to the synergy of Sparkman & Stephens’ design, Goetz’s construction prowess, and Westerly Marine’s detailed expertise – a unique blend resulting in a fast, very well maintained, and truly exceptional offshore cruiser.
